Volunteer Spotlight: The Hands Behind the Hope

Behind every piece of clothing that reaches a family in need is a team of dedicated volunteers whose selfless efforts make the work of Dalya possible. Today, we shine a spotlight on these unsung heroes — the hands behind the hope.

Kwame, a university student studying social work, joined Dalya as a volunteer six months ago. What started as a requirement for his community service course has blossomed into a deep passion for helping others. "I used to think charity was just about giving things away," he reflects. "But being here has taught me that it is about restoring dignity, about looking someone in the eye and saying, you matter."

Then there is Abena, a retired seamstress who spends her mornings repairing donated clothes that need a little extra care. With nimble fingers and a heart full of compassion, she mends torn seams, replaces missing buttons, and ensures that every garment leaving the Dalya warehouse is in excellent condition. "I may be retired, but my hands are not," she says with a warm smile. "This work gives me purpose."

The volunteer team also includes young professionals, teachers, and even a group of high school students who dedicate their weekends to the cause. Together, they form the backbone of Dalya operations, contributing thousands of hours each year to sort, organize, and distribute clothing to communities across the country.

If you are inspired by their stories and would like to join the Dalya volunteer family, we welcome you with open arms. No special skills are required — just a willing heart and a desire to make a difference.
